Twas the night before St. Patrick’s Day
And the trap had been set
The leprechauns were ours
We will get them, I bet.
Off to bed went the girls
Excited yet leery.
Green tinted mischief sure to unfold
While everyone's weary.
I was woken by giggles
And cries of disbelief.
Our house once again looked like
It had been hit by a thief.
Those leprechauns are sneaky
Creeping in and then out.
Not a sound or a noise
They tossed things about.
So small and so cute
Yet unbelievably tricky.
No victim is spared.
They’re certainly not picky.
Undies upended,
Chairs overturned.
We didn’t expect it.
Haven’t we learned?
The milk and the toilets
Have all been turned green.
Coins strewn about
It’s a little bit mean.
Our shoes all lined up
In one long and straight row.
(The stinkers are cobblers by trade.)
But full time cause us woe.
The house is in shambles.
Our rooms are a mess.
Green footprints all over
Clean up time, I guess.
Mugs filled with goodies
Gold coins and some treats.
Was the only hint given
These michievious men are quite sweet.
How will we get them?
Those wily little sprites.
They surely must know
The Kolb’s will put a fight.
Next year is ours.
We will be better prepared.
Those naughty lefrechauns
Well, they better be scared.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
